A while back (in the later part of Oct, 2009), the Lord spoke to me and told me to tell Steve that I was willing to help in any way I could to see a permanent presence established at Stride. He suggested Stamps as this housing project is more needy and has no Christian group ministering there. I agreed to help in any way I could to see a "village” established at Stamps that would bless and transform it permanently. At this point all I can see is faithfulness in ministering mercy and prayer to the people who live at Stamps on a regular bases.

Joan and I are just back from Stamps( a housing project in Vancouver for people with low incomes), where we visited a lady and her family who are of Vietnamese background. Vivian has been in Canada since 1980, She is catholic and knows God is important and can help. She needs healing of pain throughout her body but particularly in her arms. During our visit of 1.5 hours, we prayed and there was some reduction of pain in her arms. She has three daughters, two who are perusing advanced degrees in the health sciences. The oldest, Uyen, is a drug addict who begs on the streets of Vancouver's China Town and lives in one of the hotels on the downtown east side. Uyen has a daughter of 16 months. Vivian has legal custody of the child and is the primary care giver; Uyen is not able to take care of her child. Please pray for the healing of Vivian’s pain and for Uyen on the streets!

Here is Joan's comment on our visit:
"Vivian is a lady that Steve and I prayed for on the night we went Christmas caroling. She said again how much that prayer had meant to her as she was just wandering around in the rain with her granddaughter in the stroller feeling at the end of her rope, exhausted, in pain and deeply discouraged about her daughter Uyen's addiction. She felt that that meeting was an answer to prayer. She was very open as we talked and prayed with her today and felt a touch from God. She would really like us to try to reach out to her daughter and we agreed to try to connect with her. She gave us information on how to find her so we hope to do that in the next week."

This is a very key contact as we now have an open door to the 400 tower at Stamps and have been invited back to visit and pray for Vivian and her family. Over time more doors will open and through our mercy and the power of God's Kingdom, the light and hope of Jesus Christ will start to transform Stamps.
