Impact Nations

I just returned from the Haiti Journey of Compassion with very little left in my suit-case, but with a heart full of gratitude for the priviledge of participating in this incredible journey. I am very impressed with Impact Nations' approach to ministry and commend the leadership for the way they dealt with the challenges of this particular journey. What a special and diverse team we were. I miss you all. Don't you find the traffic so lame around here? There's at least 4 feet to the vehicles in the next lane over.... Few horns are honking and people are sitting inside the buses, not on the roof.... The oncoming traffic is on the other side of the road, not straight ahead.... It seems so dull somehow....

I experienced so many personal highlights in Haiti that it's difficult to narrow them down to one or two. As a nurse I found it so refreshing to be able to refer people to the prayer team after I had done what I could for them medically with the resources at hand. One mother brought her son to me and wanted me to examine his ear because he was deaf in one ear. I referred them to the prayer team and a few minutes later the boy could hear perfectly. How cool is that..... I experienced another holy moment the day we went to two tent cities "just" to offer to pray for people. Our group of four including the translator prayed with a woman who had lost her child in the earthquake. After the group finished praying for her I asked the lady through the translator if I could give her a hug. She said "yes" so I put my arms around her and just held her as she sobbed. I wept and prayed with her and after a while her crying turned into prayer. As we were standing there in the cramped space between endless rows of tents I thought, "this is why I came".

Yes. You were Jesus to her. "Blessed are the brokenhearted, for they will be comforted"

Nicely said Kerstin, I agree the traffic here is very "lame", it's so orderly & conservative.
It was a pleasure travelling & "working" alongside you, I look forward to 'journeying' with you in the future!
