I saw 100 kids at a school, 30 of which are orphans and sleep there. They were afraid of us at first because they probably never see 'blanche' people. We broke the ice by saying "Kijan ou rele?" (What is your name?) They responded, some asked questions in English but were still shy. So we went and sat among them and told them where we were from and told them about our family and asked them if they loved Jesus. Which they all did. They were incredibly happy and smiling faces everywhere, an amazing thing for what they have been through. One little boy asked "can you come here every week?" and Christina explained it was a long way from home. Unfortunately we had to go. It cost $50/day to feed them, one of the Impact Nations people gave them $250 dollars which is enough to feed them for for only 5 days. Then what? Out of 9 million Haitians how many are children? There are no free schools, and only half attend school. The kids are all clean and wear uniforms, it continues to amaze me that after what they have been through that they can be clean and look healthy. My last point - I love their courage and their faith in God.
