Last evening, after a day in two hospitals and two prisons where we saw God move in compassion and power, we conducted an outdoor meeting at the central plaza, right in the heart of the city. A local church provided an excellent worship team. The weather was perfect (thank you, Lord!) for an outdoor meeting. Steve preached the gospel to the several hundred in the large park, but the message was carried by loudspeaker to the surrounding streets where many more heard. When the invitation to receive the Lord was given, over 300 people came forward, including about 40 of the soldiers who have been with us this week. It was a wonderful sight.
Butuan is a city with remarkable unity among the pastors and priests. I believe that is one of the reasons why we are seeing so many miracles and salvations. After the invitation was given I invited one of the city pastors and one of the Catholic priests to come up and pray blessing over the hundreds of new believers. God's presence was very strong as they stood side by side.
We then prayed for the sick for over an hour. Once again, there were too many healings to keep track of. One of our team prayed for a man with a blind eye which was obvious by its discoloration and the blackness around the outside. After praying three times, he was totally healed. This is just one example of the healing that was taking place all around us.
Tomorrow we travel by riverboat in order to conduct a medical clinic in a remote village.
