Report from the Philippines Journey- Part 1 Print E-mail

Thirty-four people from England , Australia , Korea , the US and Canada met in Manila for two days of orientation, teaching, ministry and preparing meds for what would be a wonderful ministry experience.

After a day and a half of orientation, the team went to Payatas, a community of over 110,000 extremely poor people living in and around one of the largest garbage dumps in all of Asia . We were greeted by an enthusiastic group of Christians from several churches. After touring Payatas, preaching the Gospel and praying for the sick in the market, we gathered for a meeting where we taught the believers a simple and effective healing prayer model. For most, it was the first time they had ever prayed a healing prayer for the sick. All who came forward were healed.

During next two days we conducted medical clinics in the daytime and outdoor meetings at night. We treated nearly 700 people in the clinics, saw many healed and saved. One team member (Lyn) was invited into a home where 25 people were gathered for a funeral. Lyn shared the Gospel with them and 20 gave their lives to Jesus!

From the very beginning, this Journey was marked by a very great number of healings. During the days in Payatas we saw cataracts disappear, several people with goiters had them instantly disappear, including a Muslim woman who upon being healed gave her life to Jesus. At least two people with canes were healed and left without need of them—although one healed man said he still needed his cane to beat of the dogs! Another woman was disappointed to find out that all of our eye glasses had already been given out; however, a team member offered to pray for her. She then took the woman to the eye chart and she read two lines below 20/20. A number of people with deaf ears were healed, as well as a number of respiratory ailments (very common in the environment of the garbage dump).

Here are a few testimonies from the 2 and a half days in Payatas:

Judy Middleton

Healings: Asthma, stiff and painful knees, goiter, emphysema-greatly improved, a baby that had a bad burn on her stomach, down one arm and down one leg-prayed for her and new skin was growing on the stomach and the arm, almost completely deaf ears were opened.

Prayed for about an hour at the clinic, EVERYONE was healed that I prayed for.

Thursday-praying for people, lining up to go to the clinic.  Lady-bad pain down one side and numb fingers-pain left and the feeling came back to the fingers.

Lady with a growth on her breast and impaired vision in one eye-growth disappeared and she got her sight back!

Boy had two growths on his neck-one on each side, I prayed for him and the mother said they were gone-they seemed to be much smaller to me.

Lots of people with asthma-healed.

Healing meeting-goiter healed.

What I was really thrilled about-last night as I was leaving, there were about a dozen children that came up to me and asked if I would pray for them.  They were about 11-13.  And they were so excited.  They had been praying for people and were very excited.  They had heard Christina preaching and they had taken the teachings and really run with it!  They were healing the sick.  They asked me for an impartation and an increase. To pray for the sick and lead people to Christ.

While we were handing out pamphlets, I prayed for a lady with a deformed eye-it looked kind of milky and it was bulging out of the side.  I think I saw her two days later and her eyes were perfectly normal-she was trying to get different glasses because she could no longer see through her own!

Wed

After the first clinic, a little girl had asthma 5 or 6.  I prayed for her-and although I didn’t have a translator-she could breathe freely afterward.

Today was our first clinic day.  At the end of the clinic, a woman came and said he had pain in her lower back-she said that she had a UTI, but had suffered for over a year.  I quickly deduced that it was most likely kidney problems-stones perhaps.  I told her that I didn’t have any medicine for her, but could I offered to pray with her.  She accepted, so my interpreter and I prayed.  After a couple of minutes, I checked with her and asked her if she had any more pain-she said the pain was gone and it felt normal again.

At the medical clinic today, I prayed for several people in the assessment station.  There was a 75 year old man that came in, walking with a cane. He went to the eye assessment station and Jed called me over to help pray for the man.  We prayed for his lungs-he had shortness of breath and tachypnea.  He said the breathing was improved.  Then we prayed for his legs-for walking.  After a minute or so, he got up and said he wanted to try walking.  He walked the length of the clinic without any assistance and then wanted to walk back!  He was healed.  Then we prayed the prayer of salvation with him.

A happy and excited team left Payatas for the next stage of the adventure... Butuan.
