Christina Stewart Update from Christina Stewart on January 11, 2012 at 1:18pm

Tomorrow is the two year anniversary of my not dying with so many others in the earthquake in Haiti, and I continue to be so thankful for God's protection. I was encouraged when I flew in two weeks ago that the tent cities are gradually clearing out. It was great to have time with Reg's church over New Years; their thankfulness and exuberance in spite of difficulties is always humbling. I enjoyed meeting the Aussie team and look forward to hearing about their adventures in Bouvier. I encourage you to consider joining us on the JOC in March; many are still desperate for medical help and the country continues to be open to the gospel. I'm en-route to India with a team of 32 from 5 countries. God is on the move!

Reg and I were planning on the phone yesterday. He tells me his church continues to grow with new believers. I'm excited to be going to Haiti immediately after Christmas. I'll be teaching and ministering a discipleship seminar at his church, then meeting the team who will be travelling to Bouvier with John and Cheryl Ward.

Fui Mee Quek Update from Fui Mee Quek on September 19, 2011 at 7:12am

I wanted to send an update regarding baby Saena. You will remember that we rescued this baby and between us funded her upkeep for 6 months. The mother consequently abandoned her and Pastor Jolicoeur (PJ)and his family have kindly be caring for her and paying for quite extensive medical bills also. The money therefore ran out slightly earlier than expected. Steph visited in July and helped them financially in the short term. I have been working closely with Flo and Dorothee, who have been communicating with Reginald and PJ, to see what further is required to maintain the baby in the short to medium term. We had provisionally discussed moving her to an orphanage in the future, however they have to wait 12 months (from March 2011) before they can initiate the abandonment process and obtain a birth certificate. These steps are required before an orphanage can take her. As they are not sure what is best for the baby they have agreed to continue to care for her. Hopefully long term care can be discussed on the next Journey.

The most recent photos of Saena show her seemingly contented and at quite a good weight. We have asked for Pastor J to keep track of his expenses which we will want to see periodically in addition to pictures and updates on the baby’s progress. He has estimated it will cost at least $150 US per month to fund baby formula etc. So far we have commitment for $100 a month and were wondering if anyone else would like to contribute towards Saena’s upkeep (perhaps 5 of you can commit to $10 pcm). Flo has opened a bank account with Citi Bank (US)and we can send you details of this. From here the $150 can be transferred to PJ every month. Therefore if you want to contribute a fixed amount monthly or an ad hoc/one-off sum this is fine. Although this is not a formal Impact Nations project it is obviously something that Impact has got involved in and Christina and Doug have given their blessing to our ongoing support and the use of this website. I appreciate you have a lot of other commitments and also this seems a lot of effort to spend on just one life when so many others are suffering but for some reason Saena was brought to our attention and having helped to save her life we feel committed to follow this through. Who knows what God may have planned for this young life or what a blessing she may be to those around her? Thanks for your help and support.

Just arrived at the village in the city of light outside jacmel the river is flooded so we had to take the back road the truck broke down and we prayed and it worked I am with three pastors and we also had one flat tire and had to stop to repair the wounded tire so we had a spare I brought in several boxes of food and two thirty by twenty shade tents for the school I stopped to buy food and baby formula for the baby that lives here that was rescued on the last JOC and found out after I gave the formula that they had ran out a month ago and had nothing to feed the baby starting tomorrow so pastor joniker said the spirit led me to get the formula because they didn't know what they were going to feed the baby tomorrow I bought enough for two weeks one can cost me fifteen us dollars and lasts four days but I need some one to sponsor the baby for formula long term can some one out there do that and we can arrange for pastor joniker to get the funds to buy the formula? The baby is doing well but I will look closer tomorrow when it is light out
