APPLICATION FOR HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE ON “Cold Wave”

Heading for the propose intervention, Site/Area:

Cool winter in Rangpur, Gaibandha, Nilphamari, in the borders of the Dinapur , Naogoan, Rajshahi, Chapai Nowabgonj, Sathkhira, Mymenshingh etc and in Dhaka city where our new believers and non believers has been suffering the severer cool and it should be continue last of February 2012

Short description of the proposed intervention:

The Northern parts of Bangladesh as well as Dhaka city and its surroundings has been hit by severe cool already have been started from the first week of December 2011. The situation is still severe for most of the affected area people of United Bethany Church Society’s and have a plan for relief program targeting 1800 families in mainly the 3 parts of Bangladesh where UBCS have the ongoing Evangelical work through the Church Plantation. The proposed input includes immediate assistance of food and medicine to the affected families.

1. Catastrophe situation
The catastrophe cold wave has already been started from the first week of December 2011 and has been causes a colossal destruction in the 75% areas of Bangladesh. Many districts are have been affecting by this heavy cold mainly Rangpur, Gaibandha, Sathkhira, Jessore, Khulna, Kustia, Nilphamari, Nowgoan, Rajshahi, Chapai Nwabab Jong, Myenshingh, Jamalpur, Netrokona, and the borders of the Dinajpur District as well as Dhaka city are seriously affected by the recent cold wave.

The cold waves are in mainly Northern and Southern and middle parts of Bangladesh. United Bethany Churches believers are also affecting in the mentioned above Districts.

The most effected ones due to the cold wave are men, women and infants, as it has become a great problem for warm clothes and blankets also to the their Childs, kinds, and others have been faces some diseases, along with it many infants are bound to lose their life prematurely. Many old, young, middle aged men and women and small children have died by the heavy cold wave and many are starving to bereavement. Many people are still staying marooned.

Blanket, warm cloths, and emergency medicines and urgent medical care along with shelter and warm clothes are immediate needed for to this situation little bit support for the poor.

Our information team including our preachers and pastors has spoken with the suffering people they saw their unmerciful situation and immediately reported to us and they have also requesting to observe the national Bengali news papers which I collected and has been sending to Mr. Collins and also he saws in his own eyes the heart trembling situation are occurred in the Northern, South, Middle part of Bangladesh and in the Dhaka city. Some of our Churches and its nearby areas are severely affected due to the high wave of cold and expecting to stand besides them but due to the fund and its sanctioning amount which is totally unseen to us and UBCS serving range depends on the fund. For this reason-UBCS goal totally depends on the fund allocation by the donor agency and their kindness please.

2. Goals
The goal is to provide immediate relief to 1500 families in the Sathkhira, Jessore, Khulna, Kustia,, Nilphamari and the borders of the Dinajpur, Naogaon and Mymenshingh, Faridpur Districts, for their survival during the helpless conditions prevailing in the high could waves.

3. Target group
UBCS targets the districts of Sathkhiara, Khulna, Jessore, Mymenshingh, Kustia, Nilphamari, and in the borders of Dinjapur,Naogoan, Faridpur. 1500 affected families are identified as recipients for the proposed relief program. These people are to a big extent found among those who are targeted in the ongoing United Bethany Churches members and its preaching centers, also for the neighbors non believers.

4. Organisations
United Bethany Church Society is the registered by the Bangladesh Government as a non-profit charitable and religious Denomination. An Executive Committee of seven members is elected by the general meeting.

5. Assistance
Blankets will be distribute among the targeted families of said above mention areas as well as UBCS areas in Bangladesh please. Each of the 1500 families will receive the relief package containing:

During the relief distribution UBCS will hire some volunteers during the relief input will be distribution by the help of Local Government people. The team will be equipped with the most essential experienced team worker please. Diarrhoea and different kind of infections caused due to cold wave borne diseases already been started please.

6. Cooperation with other operators
United Bethany Church is well recognised by the local authorities. The local Union Council Chairman has requested the assistance and thereby approved the proposed input. During the distribution the local authorities will provide security and monitor the activities.
No other Denomination is known to plan or prepare any relief input in these specific areas to this cool winter.

7. Side effects
The project is likely to strengthen the church in the area as the relief program proves the
Christian Commitment and love to care for the High Cold Wave people regardless of religion, gender or ethnic background.

8. Time schedule
The project will be implemented as soon as the funds are released. The whole operation may be carried out within 1 month.

9. Specified budget
Enclosed is a specific budget herein above and for the North Bengal/South Bengal’s Districts are 1500 families.

10. Follow-up and reporting
The distribution team of United Bethany Church Society will keep records of the distribution procedure under the guidance of the National Leader of Bangladesh, UBCS and a final report of the operation together with an assessment of its impact will be submit to the Donor Agency Impact Nations as soon as the project is completed. United Bethany Church Society will work out the final report to the Donor Agency or Impact Nations International
