"Putting in water tanks at Hannington’s church/school:
Because it has a corrugated iron roof with good fall on it, it appears to me that it would be quite simple. It would require guttering to be put along the edge of the roof connected to a tank with a tap on it. If there is room at the back of the school, as well as the front, and the cost isn’t too prohibitive the same thing could be done on both sides of the roof. Geoff and I are really keen to help finance this and I know that there are others that want to join us in this. I have sent you a picture of the well that they use for water for the school – as you can see it is really bad. I couldn’t leave and not do anything about it." - Sue Walker

Permalink Update from Christina Stewart on June 8, 2011 at 12:02pm I wanted to explain the picture above. This "well" is at the bottom of the hill on Hannington's land. The school/church/cooking all happens at the top of the hill. The kids take jerry cans down the hill through the corn fields, lean over and fill them, then carry them back up the hill. Obviously it isn't good water! We look forward to the day when there is rain collection, safe, deep wells, and bio sand water filters to help transform this community.

Email from Hannington....
Hi Doug, praise God my brother, about the water tank that was and is my budget for the three water tanks. It is exciting to have it at such a time as this for the dry season is on the way soon.My prayer is that he may provide for every one's needs to continue sowing a seed in this project as it also matures to self sustenance so that others can also benefit and become what God destined them to be.Why i couldn't reply is that electricity in Uganda isn't reliable it is on and off. Can be present for an hour and goes for three days. Of the receipts for farm lubrication, few hours from now will be on webs. I haven't reached home to pick it,when i saw power back i ran to the internet to see at least.Thank you so much also for the feeding new project of Bulera for i was going to write to you about injury time.Doug i love you and the rest.I pray that by the time i will be back with the receipt for lubrication power will be still on.Every blessing.
