Impact Nations

Pastor Hannington is working to bring transformation to Bulera, a community of about 5,000 in western Uganda. He has a school with about 190 children; all of them live in extreme poverty.

Hannington has been feeding the kids about 6 ounces of corn porridge a day–for many this is all they will eat every 24 hours–barely enough to survive.

As part of the Isaiah 58 Fund, we are now going to provide the funds for every child and teacher to receive a healthy meal (including a good supply of protein) every day.

Here's Hannington's budget:

Hi Pastor Steve, praise God!!

Beans=189/10x20 days=378kgs=kids
5kgs per week x 4 weeks =20kgs= teachers
Total =        398kgs
          =3 bags of 100kgs and 78 kilos.
Maize = 189/6X20 days = 630 kgs = kids
5kgs per weekx4 weeks=20kgs = teachers
Total =         650 kgs
       = 6 bags of 100kgs and 65 kilos.
Each kilo of beans for eating is 1600/=
Each kilo of maize flour is 1200/=
Mathematics is not so easy!! Am sorry, when I counted I found I did not do it perfectly! But let me hope that this is final. God bless you Pastor and Mum.

Updates to This Project

Email from Victor Hannington:

Concerning feeding the kids, I will continue giving them porridge very early in the morning before they go to classes because some don't take supper at home and dose & cry in class.The food you will give to us will serve as their lunch. The one kilogramme of beans for 21 kids in the actual sense is not enough, it would be better if each ten kids would eat one kilogramme of beans at least. However you can also plan the best for them. It is a pleasure to learn that Impact nations cares about the health of the kids so much .
About the fans, we have not yet fixed them because our classrooms had no windows during the installation of electricity, so we felt that buying metallic windows & fixing them would be convenient for the security of our electricity appliances fixed.We thought with time we will fix the fans.Concerning the lights, we have 7 lights but they are supplying sufficient light.
I thank impact Nations so much to the good meals it has given us. Many time at our home we don't eat supper and i used to come to school hungry and could only take a half cup of porridge which pastor Hannington could give us at school. I used to doze a felt life had no meaning. But now my history has changed b'se of impact Nations I eat lunch at school every day, am happy and my performance in class must change.

We are many at home yet food has been little but due to impact Nations, now am confident that I must eat every day enough for my life and balanced. My performance has to change and am so happy. God bless you impact Nations.

Am coming from a poor family where food is not enough for both lunch and supper. My mother and father are all helpless Catholics: I feel due to what God has done for me to eat from school enough food everyday. Electricity which helps us everyday and night I should give my life to Jesus. He has showed me his love and care. God bless you impact Nations.
Kenneth

Our family is poor and I walk a long distance to school. Food hasn’t been easy and whenever I could eat some cold food in the morning, by the time I could reach school, I would already be finished and felt exhausted so now because of lunch given to me at school as a result of impact Nations, am so happy because I eat everyday which has made our school unique in the community. Other school children because of hunger peep through our school fence at lunch time. Am so happy and my parent are also happy.

Am in P.4 old as I am, my parent had refused to give me anything to eat at school saying that am old a enough to withstand hunger at school from morning to 4:30 im without have eaten anything. Pastor could help and give but it wasn’t enough for me. Am so happy for impact Nations which has provided us much. I used to doze and the young children would tease me. I felt school was not a good place for me but now I know God I should also give my life to him.
