Thank you very much Impact Nations for helping us with feeding the 470 children that we feed and take care of on a daily basis. You have given us such a great leap, even you helped us feed them for one whole month! Thank you again! You have helped us make such a great impact in their lives. It was a pleasure to spend time with Robert & Esther in Victoria, BC last week, and to have them both meet our community at Lion of Judah.  This site is an amazing platform for action- well done everyone!

This past weekend I have spent a wonderful time catching up with Robert & Esther who passed through before travelling on to New York & Canada.  We have supplied Esther with 28 dresses (12 bride dresses & 16 bridesmaids dresses) to help equip her bridal shop & get that up & running.  Esther's desire is to have a trained lady come from Kampala & train a team of ladies.  This will also include Esther teaching women to make hair, do make-up & nails.  It's a dream she's had of giving women the 'full' beauty treatment! They have also been blessed with a gift which will go towards purchasing 5 sewing machines which helps train women & some of the children in a craft/skill to bring in more money. I'm so excited with what God is doing

What a change we saw in Mityana this year! One highlight of our trip to Uganda was having kids from the the King’s Kids Home as some of our translators. They did an excellent job and it was a testimony to the great leadership, training and security that Robert, Esther and their team are providing. The kids home and school continue to grow to meet the needs of the children of the community. There are new classrooms being built to accommodate the growing numbers. One sad note was that a parcel of land that the kids play on is being fenced by its owner to prevent them from entering. Robert is hoping one day to purchase this land for their use, but for now the children are helping to level and seed an area that can provide a place to kick a ball around. Because we had a large medical team this year, one of our nurses, Rebekah Cooper, was able to pursue her other love, which is ministering to and playing with children. It was a delight to look out from the clinic and see her using the parachute or bubbles, or hearing the kids shout out the answers to questions about the bible stories. The kids bask in any attention we can give them. There are so many more stories I will tell in the days ahead, but for now I’ll post a picture of one of our translators wearing a Canucks hoodie. She was delighted when I told her we were the best team in the league!

Below is a photo of sewing machines that are being used to teach the young girls in Pastor Roberts Kings Kids Ministry in Mityana the very practical and useful skill of tailoring. The young girls take these skills and  with some mentoring and micro finance will be given a very real chance of a future not only for them but also the family that they will be having in the future.   This is the stuff that stops the cycle of poverty in a very tangible way.

So sorry for the multiple posts but I missed the spell chack the first time and then part of my message was missed the second time. Hopefully the third time is the charm!

Thanks for the update Steve, been struggling with my health since my trip to India with you guys back in Jan 09. Not from the trip but I have CFS which has its challenges but lots of time to spend with the Lord so for that I am very grateful.

The funny thing is after reading your update I found it interesting that Impact Nations is now so actively involved in Uganda. I watched a movie called War Dance way back in 2008 and it just broke my heart, it was about the children from the refuge village who competed in the Countries annual Dance completion. Along the way you heard some of the tragic testimonies of the children and adults of the horrible things they had to endure and witness. It absolutely broke my heart and I just wanted to tell them how much our Lord loved them! They had such guilt and oppression from their experiences and caused me to break into tears 3 times which was not normal for me.

I knew God spoke to me in those moments so much so that I was booked on a trip with Impact Nations to India within 4 days of watching that movie. It was quite funny as I was taking a course through Samuel's Mantle(Murray Dueck's course) and Murray's father-In-law Eric McCooeye also was booked on the very same trip (I did not know this when I booked) and he ended up being my bunk mate and team leader during the trip as well as a spiritual father of sorts for my journey.

It is such a blessing to see the work that Impact Nations is doing in Uganda today. My prayers are with you all and with David and Sheena too. I can not wait until I am better as I will make myself available in any way I can to further the Impact Nations plans. I hope to one day do some long term work with you guys but have to wait until my girls grow up a bit. In 6 years I should be good to go but I am sure I can help you out in other capacities. I will hit Doug up when I return to better health. I love the updates though especially the prayer chain that Sue Walker send out!

God Bless,

Jamie Kirby

Steve Stewart Update from Steve Stewart on March 31, 2011 at 11:37am

Hi everyone,

Christina & I got back from the Journey to Haiti last week. I just wanted to make sure that everyone knew about the Uganda Journey, May 8-21. And a special one-time offer just for you–we are including an authentic African wedding on the final day!!!

Seriously, Christina and I are so delighted to be part of Heidi and Olivier's wedding. Heidi is one of our spiritual kids.

If you haven't prayed about coming, why not do so? We are doing more in Uganda than in any other country–village transformation, farming, starting new businesses. Besides that we have the largest medical team ever, so the clinics should be amazing.

Hope to see some of you there.

Blessings, Steve
