Rest in Christ

I recently read a book by Watchman Nee entitled, "Sit, Walk, Stand".

In this book he walks through the book of Ephesians and expounds on what it means to Sit, Walk and Stand. There is a divine order to these three actions and we need to experience them in their order for us to see maximum results in our lives.

Sitting speaks of our position in Christ. Walking speaks of our life in the world and standing is our attitude toward our enemy. We will be of little threat and have limited authority if we walk out into this world and try to fight our adversary before we have sat at Jesus' feet and ate with Him and drank with Him. Sometimes the sitting is the hardest part for us as Christians or anyone for that matter. We feel like we need to be moving, doing and working on something in order for us to appear effective. But our effectiveness all comes down to how much sitting we are doing with Christ.

It is in Sitting where we are rejuvenated. It is in those still times with our Father that He refreshes us and gives us the strength to go out and do. If we don't sit and rest, we don't have what it takes to walk or stand.

When God created man, it was on the 6th day, after God had created everything else. On the very next day God rested.  "Whereas God worked six days and then enjoyed His Sabbath rest, Adam began his life with the Sabbath: for God works before He rests, while man must first enter into God's rest, and then alone can he work".

Ephesians 1:20, ....which he exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms,....

Ephesians 2:6, And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.

This is where it all starts and stops. We need to see ourselves in Christ, seated with Him. We find ALL that we need there, and then we can go out into the world and walk. Let us commit to sit at Jesus' feet today to truly seek Him. To rest in the facts of who we are in Him, what we have in Him and what our authority and privileges are in Him. Then and only then will we be fit for the fight.
