Feeding the Children

Our Indian partners felt especially led this past month to do their monthly Feeding the Poor outreach among children. January 26 was Indian Republic Day and many schools and colleges were celebrating in various ways and to add to the celebration, our partners visited a very poor area where they gathered 86 children and taught them songs, played games, shared stories and the Gospel with them, prayed for them and distributed food packets consisting of biryani, chicken curry and mineral water.  In all, 161 food packets were distributed to the children and beggars at platforms.  It was a time of great joy.

This is Isaiah 58 Feeding money at work. Children and those who would otherwise go hungry being fed physically and spiritually. This is the heart of God. “Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.”- Is 58:10.  Every food packet distributed is an opportunity to share Jesus and pray for the Kingdom to come and displace brokenness, hunger and hopelessness. It is an opportunity to exchange beauty for ashes.

Keep watching the blog for updates on a large project nearing completion which will bring thousands of meals to Centre Vie Orphanage and our partners in Haiti to be distributed to children and schools in surrounding communities. The meals, in the form of a hearty soup mix, were donated by the Ontario Gleaners and Isaiah 58 Feeding money will pay for the transport of the donated soup mix from Canada to Haiti.

We also want to take this opportunity to say thank you to our Isaiah 58 Feeding donors. We know of home churches, men’s groups and bible study groups that send money every month out of meals they fast. The amount donated each month varies as it represents what was sacrificed that month. We also have donors who are set up to make recurring contributions each month to Isaiah 58. To all these donors, please accept our heartfelt gratitude. Every bit truly does make a difference.
